An Exciting Week

Posted: August 6, 2013 in Uncategorized

It is not every day that we get a visit from the MADD National President, Jan Withers. But, this week, she is landing in Nebraska to visit our state and to attend a very special training being held here. We are so excited to be able to tell her about the work MADD is doing in Nebraska and have her meet the people who make it happen, our volunteers, supporters, and victims.

Jan will be attending a Victim Assistance Training that is focused on outreach to rural communities. A perfect fit for us here in Nebraska, since there is a large part of our state that is rural. And while these smaller communities come together like no where else, it is often hard for them to know just what to do in the wake of a tragedy like a drunk driving crash. That is where the training comes in, it will help teach victim advocates across the country just what they need to know to help in these rural communities.

We are excited to offer a chance for you to meet Jan while she is in town. On August 8th, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., First Lady Sally Ganem will be hosting an open house at the Governor’s Residence (1425 H St., Lincoln) so you can come by and say hello! It is a unique opportunity to meet a woman who is incredibly passionate about the work MADD is doing and knows first hand the importance of ending drunk driving. We hope you can find the time to make Jan feel welcome in our state, and show her just how wonderful all of our Nebraska supporters are.
